How to Prepare a Photo for String Art
Prepare a photo for string art with practical cropping, grayscale, contrast, and background tips before converting it into a printable thread art pattern.
1. Choose a clear subject
Use one person, pet, logo, or silhouette as the main subject. A simple background gives the thread paths more room to describe the outline.
2. Crop before uploading
Crop tightly around the subject and remove empty areas. Square crops work well for circular nail layouts and make it easier to place the important details inside the board.
3. Improve grayscale contrast
Convert the photo to grayscale, raise contrast gradually, and keep highlights from becoming completely white. The generator needs visible midtones to build convincing shadows.
4. Test several settings
